More Randomness...

Well, I've submitted twenty six job applications. I managed to get one interview. And... well, you can wait till the end to find out!

Really random this week. And really short of interesting photos to share - just more of the garden. I've missed the opportunity to get out and photograph the hawthorn blooming all around the countryside. I'm about to miss cow parsely season too if I don't get a wiggle on. And the buttercups. Though there are plenty in the garden to keep me going. I've given up trying to weed them out now. I've always been happy to have diasies in the garden, the buttercups can stay too. And shock, horror, never thought I'd say this - I no longer mind dandelions. I think we now have what you'd call a wild-life friendly garden. I like it. I'll photograph it properly soon, during the holidays, did I mention I have 6 weeks off coming up!

Whilst shopping this week I heard "Rip it Up" by Orange Juice - a blast from the past, I was humming along as I negotiated the crowded aisles. In Asda it was, people seem particularly prone to blocking up the aisles there, lots of slowcoaches dawdling along together...

I had my first child-free night for over ten years. N was at a Beavers sleep-over and A was at a Brownie pack holiday.

During the up-and-coming 6 week break we'll be visiting the Peak District. Any must-visit places? Favourite little nooks? I know quite a few bloggers are from fairly close by. Anyone even want to meet up? No worries if not, I'm sure we'll be plenty busy.

Anyway, the interview result was a no. I've still four applications to hear back about but I'm not expecting anything positive from them. So supply it will be after the summer. It will be interesting and good for me I'm sure!

Have a good week...

Your flower photos are beautiful Anne. I am sorry you were not successful at interview and I am wishing you lots of luck with your remaining job applications. The head teacher of our High School mentioned the other day that at his school some full time teacher positions have been replaced with supply staff because it is 'more cost effective'. I hope this is not the case in your council area. A bit of wilderness in the garden is good. I have always liked dandelions but we keep digging them up, even from our wildflower meadow (that's how we call our own wilderness) because of the neighbours. Three more day of school here! Yay. x

Sorry you haven't secured a permanent post yet, but I do think a lot of schools are now using temp contracts and supply as a working interview!! At least on supply you can work out where you would like to work and get a feeling for the school. Have a lovely break as I am sure you need to recharge your batteries!
Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful photos.

Sorry about the job positions, you must have worked very hard sending out so many applications, I know how painfully long-winded things like that are. I hope the supply teaching goes well, and hopefully you will find a school you love and they will have something permanent for you. It's a good way to try each other out maybe. I hope you have a good week. CJ xx

sorry about the job x

your dandelion photo is exquisite. I love them when they are like this, I don't really like the yellow phase but it's worth it for the seedheads x

The right opening will come along when it is the right time, meanwhile, enjoy the supply teaching and the six weeks at home.

Beautiful photos! It's hard work getting a job these days! It took me a whole year (but I'm awful at interviews) but the supply work was good - it was nice to see a range of schools and good for picking up new ideas! It's nice to pick and choose when you work too! Though of course, it's also nice to be settled in one place and have predictable, regular income so I hope you find something soon ish.

Perhaps you could put on the blog a little blog meet call out and let us know the date you are down here then we can see who might be able to meet... I'm a maybe but summer holidays are a bit later down here and between that, working for the wildlife trust and trying to squeeze in a holiday of my own, I don't know if I'll have time!

I've got the second flower down and the snails in my garden as well. I call my garden a wildlife garden but I'm sure my neighbor calls me a one man slum and a lazy ****** :0)He's very tidy and gets his flowers in neat rows like army recruits on parade.
Best of luck with finding a job and hope you enjoy your time off.

Good luck to you, Anne - the application process sounds very like submitting crochet designs. Lots of hopeful effort and a long wait for a positive result! But you will get there in the end.

Garden photos are never boring. I love the two snails with their horns together. What are they gossiping about, I wonder? And the shot of the dried flower with all the pink blossoms in the background is really fantastic.

Enjoy your summer break!

P.S. I think I FINALLY saw some hawthorn here in Wisconsin! :)

Sorry to hear about the job issues. My daughter could not get a job here in the US after finishing her masters degree she then went to South Korea to teach. It's not in the area where she got her schooling but it got some in her packet. This was about 6 years ago and she is in another country now. Sometimes we must do another thing that has nothing to do with our studies area. Your photos are so beautiful! Wishing you good luck!
