Half Term Hols

First, a big thank you to all who left comments on my last post, I'm sticking with the big photos now after the feedback.

Today all were back at school/nursery after the half term break from Mon to Wed.

On Monday we went to Largs to visit the park, beach and charity shops. We even stayed to have lunch in a cafe - really splashing the cash for us! We were first to arrive at the park and I amused myself by taking some photos while A & N played. Later we visited the little beach and added to our collections - sea glass and interesting little stones for me, razor shells for A, and big lumps of stone/brick with sea weed attached for N. We had ice creams, mine was tablet flavoured - a little too sweet even for me. I took numerous photos of the little ferry making its way back and forth to the Isle of Cumbrae, and sometimes passing yachts too. The charity shop pickings were poor, just more cuddly toys for the kids ("Pleeeaase Mum") and nothing for me. The cafe we ate at was fine - rather a basic menu but small and quiet (I'm not keen on crowds) though the waitress should really have worn a longer top over her leggings - her black and white polka dot knickers rather caught the eye whenever she turned her back!

Home again.

We stayed at home on Tuesday. I finally got round to hanging some pictures which have been waiting for a home for years. A few in the bedroom...

 Before.

 After.

And I finally took down the smashed mirror on the landing. One night, quite a long time ago, the loft door fell open with a loud bang. "We're lucky it didn't break the mirror" I said. "Nonsense, it wouldn't do that - I'll show you", said hubby - CRASH!

Before. Cracked and splodged mirror (a 10 year service gift to me from work).

After. Mirror from junk shop, bought before I even knew hubby, been waiting for a proper place ever since. I think it fits in much better, I'm almost glad the other mirror was damaged...

It was such a dull day, the photos are terrible, but it helps hide the dust etc!

Then on Wednesday we had snow. Horrible, wet, yucky snow. We waited for it to go off before we went sledging. It didn't stop, but turned to rain instead. So we went sledging in the rain. I must get myself some waterproofs. Someone had built a snowman family in the park.

My bowl of beach treasure.

I finally found out today about my interview results. I've been added to the waiting list. So, not a definite yes, but not a definite no either. I have my next interview a week today...

What lovely photos. It sounds like a nice couple of days. Half term for me next week, I'm really ready for it! We have a week off, are your half terms always only a couple of days?

Such great photos. I could write a page of praise for each one. Especially loved the sandcastle/mooring bollard (or whatever they are called?) one. Looks like you all had lots of fun at half term. Beaches and ice cream followed by snow. Good old Scottish February weather.

Just been catching up. I've been using the large photo format for quite some time now and would find it hard to scale back down again! Thank you for answering the 'perception' question on my blog. It has been interesting to see other people's perception of me too. By the way, my grandad used to say I was a solemn child!!!

Lovely pictures as always. You really make me feel like I'm right beside you :-) My favorites are the ones with the kids in their bright red coats against the neutral background. Thanks for sharing :-)

Lovely to see your photos of Largs, I'll be there in May for the first time in years! Looking forward to actually seeing my parents home for the first time!

You have such lovely snail shells there....

Especially love the glass ball in the window shot, and the kids throwing something into the water, and the fuzzy growths backlit by the sun.

There's one thing to be said for that wet clumpy kind of snow - it makes for very fast snowman-building.

P.S. I see you have a Chat Noir image. You might enjoy this video:

Great photos. You have had a lot of snow - we had some earlier in the week but it was all gone in a few hours, washed away by the rain. Good luck with your interview!

I'm glad you've decided to keep your photos extra-large. I think you have a good eye and take quite wonderful photos so it's nice to have them a little bigger. Your half term sounds very nice, a balance of days out and time at home.
