Yesterday...

  • I was on a bus at 7:30. It was busy with quiet people
  • I was on a train at 8am. As I reached my destination I saw the sun rise above over the horizon like a huge shimmering golden orb.
  • I had my first interview in ahem years. I enjoyed it.
  • The interview wasn't for a job, but for a post-graduate course to lead to a job.
  • I really want to do the course.
  • I am concerned about the childcare juggle it would involve.
  • Once the interview was over I went for a walk to see the sea...
...white horses were racing wildly across the waves.
  • In the local branch of Boots I found a good stock of this, I had searched unsuccessfully for it over the past month or so in several other stores closer to home.
  • I visited the charity shops of the town. I bought...

...two Hornsea Fleur jars, 75p the pair. I'm pleased that they don't have writing on them - I don't like being told what to put in my jars.

A Royal Winton sectioned platter, I really liked this so pushed the boat out at £3 for it.

And a little pottery jar for 50p. (The ebony elephant was from a different charity shopping expedition. He was £2. His tusks are intact but his body is damaged on the side you can't see.) I also bought 2 Meakin bowls (75p the pair) but they're in the dishwasher as they were manky.

  • When I put the empty milk bottles out late last night, Orion was shining brightly right above. I always like to see Orion in the night sky.

I love the pottery jar in the last photo. Every year, my father, the children and I spend a week in Lyme Regis during the half term holiday in February. Lyme Regis is full of independent shops and galleries, and a few years ago I bought a mug in the town mill pottery. It is one of the few pieces that I won't put in the dishwasher, and I like it so much I'm planning to buy another few pieces this year, budget permitting.
Hope the interview went well!

Wishing you the best of luck. I'm sure you'll manage the juggling if it is something you really want to do. Juliex

Excellent beach shot. I love the sea on days like these. Actually I just love the sea, I grew up next to the coast. Good CS finds. I know what you mean about the labels - I often find lovely jars but they're for "COFFEE" or "BISCUITS" both I like but that's not what I want the jars for! Must root around my local charity shops soon. Good luck with the course application and potential juggling. Heather x

How nice to be able to fit in a bit of seashore walking and charity shopping after the interview. Good luck with it - hope it all works out the way you would like it to.

All sounds very exciting, I'm sure that childcare stuff will fall into place when things are right for you all. I quite like interviews (I know that probably shows that I am naive) but for a lot of people they are nerve wracking.

The sea looked beautiful....what's the ee Cummings quote about finding yourself at sea....very true, I have sounded myself out with a lot of things while walking the dog on the beach.

Great buys...you definitely have an ey and talent that I don't possess.

Great post. I like the way you described your day. I hope the interview is successful - how exciting! I know I need to think about returning to work but I just can't get my head around it yet...

wow, what a day!! Love the Hornsea jars, they're sooo beautiful! And so is your photo of the ocean, it makes me very homesick, that could very well have been taken on my childhood North sea coast. I'm so curious, North sea or atlantic?

I really like seeing Orion too - he's very large and bright at this time of year.

Lovely ocean photo and charity shop finds. (How do you do it?)

Again, good luck with your endeavour.

P.S. I can't hear the phrase "golden orb" without thinking of Cold Comfort Farm. :)

I do hope the course + job work out, I can understand the trepidation of entering back into life outside the 'home', but it'll be great fun, I'm rather envious. Bethx
