Granny Squares Big Blanket Update.

The blanket is now 12 squares by 12. Time to take it upstairs to see if it's big enough yet (and the bedroom was unusually tidy so it was safe to take a few photos too)

I like it!

I'm happy with my colour choices I think, though I'll not really know till November or so as that's when I swap the blue blind for the red one and get out all the red and pink bed linen (it just feels a little cosier for winter and it's nice to have a little change of scene).

But it's not big enough yet, perhaps just as well as I didn't think it would be and have already started making more squares. One more complete round of squares should do it, that would make it 14 x 14, so "just" another 52 squares...

I've run out of one colour of wool though and am awaiting it's delivery. Looking at the blanket it doesn't jump out as being the colour I've used most often. To me, the blanket seems dominated by red and pink (intentional, to match the winter decor). I have used one red and three different pinks, I have however only used two greens and the colour I'm needing is the fern green. It should arrive today...

Hi Anne , your blanket is looking gorgeous. I love the colours you have chosen....so timeless and cheerful.
Can't wait to see it finished.
Love your bedroom too with it's interesting shapes. Great idea to change the bedding and blind for winter.

The blanket looks great....it's good to see it in-situ, but a little scary when you realise there's only 52 to go!

Rather you than me with the ends.....makes me squirm!

It looks splendid and perfect for snuggling under in the Winter and 52s not a very big number!!!!!!! Can't wait to see the finished blanket!

Oh wow, it's really coming along! Red and pink do dominate but the balance of other colours works really well. I agree, it needs to be just a little bigger. "Just" 52 squares, my word! Puts my little 72 granny square cushion into perspective!

One complete round sounds simple but 52 squares oh boy!! It's going to look great Anne, so nice and cosy on the bed through the Winter months.I love red and pinks together......

Hope you've had a great weekend,

The colours look pretty balanced to me - and with red and pink sheets the red will really pop on that beautiful blanket! I look forward to the ta-da moment.
