Going For The Chop.

I am going to get my hair cut tomorrow....

...and this is how I'm going to look once it's done!

My hair is thick and curly. I've only ever found one hairdresser who seemed to know how to cut it but he moved to premises new and his old salon wouldn't tell me where that was.

The last two haircuts I've had have been self inflicted but (in my humble opinion!) they turned out better than any I've paid for in recent years. However, I've decided to "treat" myself and try(risk?) the new salon in town.

As anyone with thick, curly hair will know, a trip to the hairdresses can be extremely daunting.

Either they're terrified of cutting any layers into it at all...
in which case you end up looking like Crystal Tips...

...or they madly snip and layer away...
...and you end up looking like a poodle!

Wish me luck...

good luck! I have fine curly/wavy hair and I find Aveda are really good at understanding what works and doesn't work. Hope your salon pampers you anyway. Funny how I can't write that word pampers without thinking of nappies rather than aromatherapy massages...

It should be an enjoyable experience and not a daunting one, so I hope that you discover Scotland's top curly hair sculptor!

From a thicky curly here, I know just how you feel. I rarely do hairdressers now. Good Luck. Suzy

I here you with the curly thing.
My hairdresser just straightens it!
Then I spend the next few months with unruly hair until I go back!!
Good luck? Will you share??

Hairdressers eh? I've got very long hair and very thick hair (it's ages since I had a decent blow dry as no one has the time anymore). Either they are afraid to touch it when you tell them to take four inches off and you get half an inch (and have to go back what seems like 5 minutes later) or else they are completely scissor happy and take off two feet! You never know what you are going to get do you? I had the same thing; the girl I liked left and I don't know where she went.

Fingers crossed for you!

I would give anything to have thick curly hair, I have thin wavy hair and I am scared to death to go to the hairdresser. Best of luck,
Meredith

Good luck at the hairdressers. I have fine, straight but thick hair. I would do anything for a bit of curl! We're never happy with our lot are we? Hope you feel a million dollars when you come out of the shop!

I hope it went well! I hate hairdressers, all that sitting looking in the mirror, and getting a style that needs a hairdryer and the arms of an octopus to do it at home... mine just gets longer and longer.....

I don't think it matters what your hair is like, we all are terrified of hairdressers. Mine is very fine and it waves in all directions, I like it to be very short and spiky but everyone seems to be afraid to cut it as short as I want it. I do get so cross. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I used to LOVE going to the hairdressers...all that head massage, cups of coffee made for me, chat about the holidays (Zzzzzz)...it's just the end result that I didn't like...I AM Crystal Tips as in your second picture...and now a lovely lady comes to my house, does exactly what I ask, doesn't try to straighten it... and I am curly and proud :)x

LOL I understand so much I sported the Crystal Tips look for many years, luckily I've found a fantastic hairdresser who makes my hair BEHAVE! Amazing. Good luck and hope you like what they do to you............bit like visiting the dentist isn't it.

I know how you feel. Hope it turned out well and wasn't too terrifying.

I hope you got on well at the hairdressers today. It usually takes me about a week to get used to a new hair cut!

Will you tell me where you're going because I want to look like that too. Impossible actually, my hair is about an inch long and spikey all over. I love having it cut, what can go wrong.

Hope it went well. I'm sure you will look wonderful whatever. I think, in theory, I have 'easy' hair but since I have never mastered (lack of effort) the use of a hairdryer it usually wriggles around all over the place and doesn't sit beautifully neat like the hairdresser gets it. Juliex

Lucky you to have naturally curly hair! I hope the appointment went well. Have you ever read "Curly Girl" by Lorraine Massey?

I think we all tend to dislike our own hair and envy that of others.

Isn't it wonderful how a simple haircut can make you look exactly like the model? :)
