I used up the scraps from making my shawl to have a go at the lovely Japanese flower pattern Lucy from Attic24 is currently making very popular.
It was surprisingly straightforward despite the pattern being a chart with French instructions (I've never followed a chart before and my schoolgirl French is rather rusty to say the least). I think a shawl from these would be a little too flamboyant for me, but a scarf would be lovely. I'll be making more I think.Talking of shawls, I finished making another Eva's shawl for my Mum. The pattern (free!) is here. Incidentally, it is by the same designer as the chevron lace crochet cardigan from my previous post, I like her patterns and it's very generous of her to make them freely available.
I persuaded Mum to model her shawl out in her garden (it was a bit baltic outside!)
She even changed into her blue jumper. I was worried at first that the colour changes in the yarn were perhaps too subtle and that it would turn out a little dull, but it hasn't at all and is just perfect for my Mum. The yarn is Drops Delight yet again, this time shade 04.Also in the garden...
Viola.
Snowdrops.
And my Dad's gnome. A joke birthday present I gave him some years ago, but he has weathered beautifully and is starting to look rather stylish (I like to think!)

I agree your shawl is a beauty.. but it's knitted and I'm just not that good of a knitter.. or at least I get frightened of having that much on a needle and messing up. Crochet is so much easier to fix a problem! :-)

I love the colours in your mum's shawl and I'm just going to pop over to the Drops website to have a look. The flower is lovely too. And talking of gnomes, and as it is half term here, I'm talking the kids to see Gnomeo and Juliet at the cinema tomorrow :O)x
A beautiful shawl...and very versatile in how it could be worn. Yes, spring is almost here....I feel a little tinge of excitment when I hear the birds singing away! Even the gnome looks happy about it!!!! x

Love your flower - is that drops yarn? its beautiul. I have tried about three times to do the shawl with no success - must try again because is really is lovely. Your mum makes a great model.
Ooooh love your flower. I have made 10 up tpo now and am also making it into a 2 row scarf. I am just using the stylecraft wool. I love that drops yarn you are using. I really ought to get some of this. Love your mum's shawl too. xx

The flower is lovely and will look fab as a scarf. What a nice present to crochet for your Mum and I bet she'll get a lot of wear out of it as it will look good in the summer over a top or dress too!

The shawl is beautiful, I love the colours. I also love that patchwork crochet blanket, what a work of art! BTW, my garden photos are very selective, to avoid the mess!
