Wind vanes & Alpacas (with a pass-the-book giveaway reminder)

We had a bit of day out last Sunday. A wrong turning towards the end of our journey led us to Dunure, a tiny little harbour village south of Ayr.

Dunure comes complete with a little sandy bay, rocks for climbing and a ruined castle to visit.

That day we had lovely blue skies but a "brisk" wind. It certainly blew all our cobwebs away, most invigorating.

We'll need to return for another visit another day as we didn't visit the castle or explore the harbour properly. Instead we thought we'd better carry on to our intended destination which was an expensive (£32 eek!) visit to a farm park.

My favourite animals were the alpacas.

Though I was rather taken with these exotic horses too.

Hubby, A & N all had a shot on the quad bike train and declared it the best fun of the day.

On Monday I did the weekly shop at Lidl just as they were setting up a new wool display. I bought this lovely sock yarn (75% wool, 25% polyamide) in gorgeous mossy green colours. There were quite a few other colours available. I'm thinking I might be able to crochet some kind of lacy scarf with them, we'll see... for £2.99 for 200g it wasn't exactly breaking the bank.

This clematis is somehow managing to survive up in a neglected corner of the garden - last visited with gardening tools in the years before children appeared. We've been having glorious weather recently, such a nice way to finish off summer.
