Another Crescent Moon Shawl and Some More Patchwork Progress

Finally, I have finished the crescent moon shawl I have been working on (on and off) since July. It has been posted to my sister-in-law and she says she likes it very much indeed, which is a relief! I do like the finished shawl, but I did find it a little tedious to make. The colours, though great for wearing, didn't help make crocheting it an exciting process - I found making my first one ( link here, which includes information about the pattern, etc) much more enjoyable - I loved seeing the effect of the new bands of colour appearing; I think I need the fun/interest/joy/satisfaction of the colour mix element to keep me focussed on a project.

On the spur of the moment I decided to start joining the patchwork hexagons I'd made during 2011. I last mentioned them here, almost exactly a year ago (there's a bigger mention here too, if you're interested). It's going to be a long project!

Changing topic, I had another interview yesterday. Again, a mostly enjoyable experience, but I fear I waffled too much and should have paused and taken more time to formulate my thoughts before launching into an answer. It was at the university I attended in my youth, the campus was remarkably unchanged but I worked out how long ago it was since I first visited, hmmm, quite a long time - long enough that I don't want to say! I have "only" four weeks till I find where or not I've been successful...

    Your shawl is beautiful!!Your hexagons reminded me of my own 'work in progress'...it is very slowly coming together..its nice to handstitch occasionally, I find it quite theraputic. Have a lovely weekend. Karen x

    I can see why you preferred making the first shawl but the new one is also rather lovely.

    I have a hand-pieced fragment of patchwork that I started on 38 years ago, it is about double the size of your last shot - I wish you luck!

    I love the crescent moon shawls you make.

    I really hope you get the news you want regarding the interview. I thought I had done really badly at my first teaching interview, with the provider that has accepted me, I was so convinced I'd failed I made a back up plan and applied for a university based course instead, but then got the letter and was really amazed I'd got through! I bet it didn't go as badly as you think it did.

    The shawl is beautiful and I love the original too. I've only just finished a hexagon quilt (and posted it about it recently) though I only made 'flowers' and appliqued them on - I couldn't face doing an allover pattern! x

    How rubbish you have to wait so long to know about your interview....I bet they are used to seeing through people's nervous energy, let's face it, it happens to everyone and only proves your enthusiasm which isn't a bad thing....I hate thinking how long ago things were, somehow I consider the nineties only a decade ago, scary eh, when I hear young adults birth dates I get confused!

    Love the shawl, but I know what you mean about needing the colour changes to make it more appealing to work on...however, the outcome is so beautiful in that colour. Great patchwork too....one day!

    I think the shawl is beautiful - tasteful and elegant - but I know what you mean about how working with colour keeps one's interest, I am just the same.
