It is a lovely book, full of wonderful craft ideas just perfect for Christmas. When it arrived I was surprised at how thick it was - 176 pages - lots to keep you inspired. Here are just a few pages to tempt you...
I've already had a go at the owls:-
I'll be making more as they're to be donated to forthcoming school & nursery Christmas Fairs.
So far I like the purple one best. I got the eye beads from ebay (here's a link)
I also had my first attempt at quilling. More fiddly than I expected but I think I was trying to make my spirals too loose.
I finally managed to clear my desk so I could "arrange" my Christmas crafting materials on it. Now that I'm starting to gear up for the Christmas Fairs there's no time to finish off the crochet blanket...
...last seen here chasing the cat. It's the one furthest away, some of those pesky ends can be spotted trailing from it.
By the way (as they say) I bought both copies of the books from The Book People (here). They also have the KirstieAllsop Craft book which I'd browsed in TK Maxx (too expensive at £12), noticed on Amazon (still a little pricey at £10) then bought from The Book People for £6.99. It's the most I'd pay for it, it seems a nice book (have only really flicked through it so far) but contains too many photos of the contibutors for my liking.

ReplyDeleteI haven't got a blog but that is a lovely book; I saw it in the book shop the other day. There are some really nice things in there. I love the embroidered dala horse. The book has quite a Scandanavian appeal I thought. The only thing stopping me buying it was that I knew it would be cheaper on line! Your owls are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteKirsty's book looks beautiful but I felt that it was all style and little substance. When it boils down to it, there is little in there that I would actually want to make.
It looks a really lovely book - and the chocolate is pretty tempting too! I really like your little owls - your stitching is beautiful.

I'm not entering the giveaway, but I must just leave a comment to say that your owls are adorable. And quilling seems like such a fun and addictive type of craft. I love messing about with paper. (I seem to remember someone in Sense and Sensibility - either the estimable Elinor or the detestable Lucy - doing a bit of "fillagree" for the spoilt daughter of Lady Middleton. Is that the same as quilling?)

Oooh, I was planning on getting that book from The Book People too! Nice to read a real person's opinion of it, if you see what I mean. I'll not order yet, just in case I win then :-D. I like the look of the quilling - I remember my dad doing quilling back in the seventies!

ReplyDeleteLoved the owls and the books look super. Trouble with these books (like cookery books) there is just one item you make and no others and you need so many bits and pieces for all these makes. At least with odd bits of wool they can go into blankets. But well done. dojo
